Back on track
01.31.05 (1:43 pm)   [edit]
Went out and ran 5 miles this morning. I was exhausted and it was very difficult waking up. But once I was outside running I was fine. Sidewalks weren't in great shape but it was better than the tow path this weekend and it was beautiful out.

12 mile run
01.30.05 (6:25 am)   [edit]

I have been a huge slacker all week.  I hadn't run since last Saturday.  But I finally managed to get out yesterday and run 12 miles.  We went to the tow path.  It wasn't plowed so it was pretty lumpy all the way.  We did ten miles on that which was very slow goings, about 10-10:30 min/mile.  Then we did our last two miles on the all purpose trail at Brecksville.  I am pretty sore today but I am going to try and ride the stationary bike or get in some other alternative form of excercise.

I will write more about my Montana trip later.

The Weather Outside is...
01.23.05 (3:13 am)   [edit]
COLD!!!  It is 5 degrees right now.  -10 with the windchill.  A says the roads are a mess and she threatened me bodily harm if I head to the SERC run.  So I am going to sit at home and work on stuff for work this morning.  Maybe I will go swimming later and try and get in my mileage later.

Trudging through the Snow
01.22.05 (8:28 am)   [edit]
Yikes. We have a big winter storm here in Ohio today :) The roads are a mess. I almost spun out several times and almost didn't make it up the hill to get to Bob Evans for breakfast after our run. Scary

Managed to get in 6 miles of "running." I was supposed to do 7 easy today but I ended up running 5.5 and walking .5. It took me an hour and ten minutes. The trails weren't plowed so it was pretty difficult to get moving. Three TNT triathletes managed to make it to the practice. I am very impressed by that dedication!

We all went out for breakfast afterwards and now I am at work :) Because the roads are such a mess I am going to get what I can't do at home doner here and then I am heading home. My husband didn't even bother trying to go to work today, his boss told him to stay home. You would think ODOT would have had more plows out being that we knew about this storm about 4 days ago. The highways aren't even plowed. Oh well.

I survived...
01.21.05 (4:45 pm)   [edit]

7 miles on the treadmill.  Today was tempo.  Didn't manage to wake up early enough to run this morning but I did a quick "buns and thigh's" Winsor Pilates workout before heading to work.  Tonight I got on the treadmill and got in 7 miles.  I warmed up at 9:31/mile pace for about 20 minutes then ran 25 minutes at 7:47/mile and finished off the rest of the 7 miles at 9:31/mile.

Around mile 5.5 the treadmill all of a sudden turned off.  Scared the begeezus out of me.  I couldn't figure out why, then realized the lady who had just hopped on the other treadmill had pulled the plug in her excitement.  She didn't even apologize.  Weird.  Thank goodness I had checked my distance recently and was also running my watch. :)

Morning Run
01.20.05 (5:23 pm)   [edit]

Ran by myself this morning at N. Chagrin.  The trail wasn't completely shoveled but the snow was packed well enough that I could still run relatively easily.  I managed to get in around 6 miles in one hour.  Man I am getting slow :(

I think I am going to have to spice up my fitness regimen and get in some cross training.  Maybe just like 15 minutes a day extra in addition to my running of spinning, swimming, or Pilates.  I am putting in all these miles and it is making me slower and I am actually gaining weight.  I feel like a slug.  This morning I couldn't even get my jeans on, phooey.

On a good note I went to two team in training events last night and tonight and I am getting psyched about that.  I am now planning a get together for the Chicago team so we can catch up and see everyone's photos.  And some of the other mentors want to plan a non-training event so I think we are going to go tobogganing (have no idea how to spell that).  So I am pumped about that.

Next week I go to Montana for work, not too thrilled about that.  Like 18 hours of travel time for a one day meeting by myself :(  But my sax prodigy is having her recital next weekend so that will be a good end to that week :) Lovely!

Off to cuddle with my hubby then to bed so I can wake up (hopefully) early and run tomorrow morning.

Oh my fave quote this week:  Randi Rhodes on Air America today "The Red States are dying to be serviced by a woman like me."  In reference to comments that Red States would not want to listen to her show. I was laughing for a good minute about that.

Speed Work
01.19.05 (4:34 am)   [edit]

Grrr.  Tblog just deleted my post, lovely

Went to the fitness center to do my track workout today on the treadmill.

1 mile warm up
1 mile hard (7:13 min/mile)
1/2 mile EZ
1 mile hard (7:13 min/mile)
1/2 mile EZ
1 mile cool down

I hate the treadmill.  I need to just suck it up and face the cold next time.

14 miles in the snow
01.16.05 (2:12 pm)   [edit]

Was running behind this morning.  I had to take my husband to his parents and get my truck and the roads were horrible so I didn't make it to the club run until 10 after 8.  Luckily A was there and waited for me.  We did the 12 mile loop and then I went out and back for another 2 miles to get in 14 total.  Total time 2 hours.  I was pretty beat after that and treated myself to a quick cat nap.

Now I have some reading to do for work :) Lovely.

51 minute run
01.15.05 (7:26 am)   [edit]
Got myself out of bed and ate breakfast then went running for 51 minutes.  I just ran out and back from the apartment. It is cold out but really sunny so it was nice. Wore my odl shoes again and my ankle was fine.  I think I am going to go out and get some new shoes that don't bother my ankle. Now I am off to get prettified for my hubby's friends wedding.

Trail Run
01.13.05 (3:53 am)   [edit]

Went to N. Chagrin with J this morning.  Got in 34 minutes with her then stretched an headed out to finish my run.  Total time today was 1:20:54.  I figure that is at least the 8 miles I was supposed to get in.

It is still warm out but really windy.  It is going to drop to 20 by tomorrow morning :(  No more running in shorts for me.

Not your typical aches and pains
01.12.05 (5:24 pm)   [edit]
It is absolutely friggin beautiful out tonight! It is currently 61 degrees out and I am lovin Global Warming, jk.

But it is nice weather for an evening run. Went out of my apartment and down the main road about 2.8 miles and back in 50 minutes. My hip was a little bothersome but not until I hit about 30 minutes. What was bothering me was my left hand, weird. It just didn't feel right. Probably from typing all day long.

On that note I am off to bed.

Long Easy Run and Treadmill Etiquette
01.11.05 (4:33 pm)   [edit]
Went to the fitness center when I got home tonight to run on the treadmill. Both the treadmills were occupied so I rode on the stationary bike for about 8 minutes while waiting for one of those to free up. I was just trying to keep a high cadence while warming up.

I got on the treadmill planning to run 8 miles or at least 7+ since I had already ridden the bike for a little bit. Around 30 minutes though the fitness center filled up and a few people were waiting for the treadmills. I am not sure what proper fitness center treadmill etiquette is. One guy was just staring at us and not attempting to do any other form of exercise so it was obvious that he wanted the treadmill space. Is it rude to finish your entire workout? Or is there some standard allowed time that you can kindly make someone wait? Keep in mind I was going to be on my treadmill until the fitness center closed at 9. I decided it would be rude for me to stay on much longer so I finished 4 miles on the treadmill than came up to the apartment grabbed a jacket and went outside. I ran over to the track and did 8 laps and then ran back. My total workout time was an hour and 20 minutes, which I am going to call equivalent to the 8 miles easy I was supposed to do.

My hip is only a little irritated and my ankle is no worse than it has been. I wore my old running shoes without orthodics tonight so maybe that helped. Towards the end of the run I felt really sick to my stomach, but I feel fine now after stretching and putting my legs up.

Off to get a late dinner :)

12 mile run
01.09.05 (6:59 am)   [edit]

Managed to get in the 12 mile route today :)  So basically I ran half the miles I ran last week this week.  I need to get my butt in gear.  My hip was a little sore today but not too bad.  I am mostly sore everywhere but no real pain :)  I need to go check out some new shoes because my right ankle keeps getting bruised.

The sidewalks weren't shoveled at all so we were running through some nasty traffic.  It sucks.  I think I am going to invest in a mini snow blower that I can push in front of me while I run.

30 minute run
01.09.05 (2:10 am)   [edit]
On my way out the door to go run in Solon.  Yesterday I managed to get in a 30 minute run with A in the snow.  Trudging through the snow is harder than I thought :)  Let's hope the roads are clear this morning.

"Easy" Run
01.03.05 (6:05 am)   [edit]
Woke up this morning to my hip hurting but went out and ran anyways because I am stubborn.  I shortened my stride and it stopped hurting while I was running.  Just went out for 47 minutes.  When we get back to Ohio I will probably make an appointment with a sports doc and see what I can do to keep running.  Hopefully it will just be that my hip has shifted out of place and it can be fixed easily.

Run
01.02.05 (9:16 am)   [edit]
Just got in an hour and a half run.  It is cold out and traffic was pretty heavy but I survived.  Lots of hills which is good for me.

New Years Eve Run
01.01.05 (9:49 am)   [edit]

Yesterday I went out and ran around 6 miles easy for 57 minutes.  It was pretty windy but not too chilly.

Today I get to rest :)  Which is good because I drank way too much wine last night.  Scary.

Happy New Year!
